What is happening?
Customers with a MyPost account will no longer receive a card if they aren’t at home to receive their parcel.
From June 26, 2023, parcel receivers who have registered with MyPost, will get a digital collection notification if they aren’t home when their parcel arrives. Instead of getting handwritten 'sorry we missed you cards, they will be notified about the delivery via email, SMS, or through the Australia Post App.
You can find more details about this change on their website.
What is a MyPost account?
A MyPost account is a free and convenient way for you to manage deliveries from Australia Post and access other Australia Post services. A MyPost account helps you access services including:
- Parcel delivery tracking and history
- Parcel preferences such as leave in a safe place (Safe Drop)
- Redirecting a parcel on the way
- Collection points like PO Boxes, Parcel Lockers and Parcel Collect
- Notification preferences
You can sign up here for a free MyPost account.
What is Digital Notification?
Digital notifications provide more accurate and useful information including where to collect your parcel or when the parcel is available for collection ensuring your parcel is ready when you arrive.
When a parcel is ready to be picked up from a Parcel Collection location or Post Office, you will receive an email, SMS, or AusPost app notification (if your parcel matches your MyPost account). The notification will tell you:
- the date and time their item will be available for pick up.
- the opening hours of the collection point.
For more information, you can visit the Australia Post site here.
Who’s affected by this change?
This change will only involve customers with a MyPost account and only parcels manifested through Parcel Send, eParcel, or MyPost Business matched to a MyPost account.
Why Australia Post is making this change?
MyPost customers already receive digital notifications which are more accurate and timely than physical cards. Changing to digital notifications will remove duplication and potential for confusion between the details on the physical card, and the updated notification on your app or email.
This change will reduce paper usage as part of Australia Post’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, which is also a focus for the vast majority of our customers. They will also be able to improve the speed and efficiency of their deliveries, allowing us to deliver more items each day for you.
How can I receive digital notifications?
To receive digital notifications, you need to add the email address you use to purchase to your MyPost account contact details.
You can customise how you receive notifications from Australia Post within their notification preferences, so you receive the information in the way that suits you best. You can manage your notification preference here.
I don’t have a MyPost Account, what will happen?
This change is only applicable to those customers who have registered MyPost account. If your parcel has not been successfully matched to your MyPost account, Australia Post will leave a card.
